The Anniversary Wa! was the event chosen for the 4th CFR Junior championship race of 2010. The race took place last Saturday on a warm spring day in Stair near Keswick. This provided great views for spectators and challenging courses for the 35 CFR runners who turned up to mark the half way point of the 2010 season. The course involved laps of the start field for the youngest runners while the U16s and U18s scaled much of the Cat Bells ridge.
The U8s race was first off at around 11:35 am, Olivia Mason won the girls race in 3:31 followed by Abigail Smith in 3:43, Millie Park in 3:44 and Anna Mason in 4:36. Olivia Fearon and Nell Barker both finished in a well run 4:51. Louisa Graham and Cerys Simpson soon followed in a well earned 4:57 and 5:39 respectively. First U8 boy was Mathew Egglestone in a time of 4:08 followed by Eughan Simpson in 4:14, Barnaby Walkinshaw in 4:45 and Kyle Anderson in 4:49.
In the U10s race Elsa Whelan brought the CFR girls, and only championship points, home in 8:32. Nathan Smith was first U10 boy returning in a time of 5:58 followed by Joseph Dugdale in 6:19, Zac Anderson in 6:28 and closely by Samuel Graham in 6:56. Thomas Adams and Billy Robinson finished in a well earned 7:26 and 8:19 respectively.
U12s were next off the line, Niamh Hedley was first back for the girls in 10:34 followed by Cerys Atkinson in 10:45, Bramble Park in 11:10 and Kerry Regan in a time of 11:17. Anna McSweeny and Elsie Barker finished in times of 11:41 and 16:12 respectively. Oliver Dawson was the first U12 Boy in a time of 9:05 followed by Kieran Riley in a well deserved 10:43.
In the U14 girls race Ellen Regan was first back in 16:34 followed quickly by Lucy Whelan in 16:35. Joseph Smith won the boys race in a time of 13:43 with Cieran Simpson taking second place in a time of 17:46.
First CFR runner back in U16 girls race was Alice Rea in a time of 23:05. In the boys race Nathan Thompson took full points in a time of 14:57 followed by Jack Taylor in a well run time of 19:56.
In the U18s race, only CFR runner, Duncan Eastoe won in a time of 16:44.
The next CFR Junior Championship race is the Latterbarrow Loop on Saturday 8th May, first race is off at 12:00 pm from the Cold Fell Road. Full details can be found here
