Cumberland AC are not now an athletic club registered as so with UKA. They are now members of a rival association, the Association of Running Clubs (ARC).
The implications of this are given below:
- CAC members are now unattached runners and become liable to pay the unattached levy.
- CAC members are “free agents” and as such can transfer to another club without penalty (ie they do not have to wait 9 months before they can represent their new club.
- In the case of CAC members who were second claim to another club (many are also members of CFR), are now first claim members of that club.
- CAC members entering a race should be given the opportunity to alter his/her entry form to another club.
- It is acceptable that CAC members appear in the results as “u/a (Cumb AC)”
- Cumberland AC can no longer enter teams in UKA (inc county) championships.
- It is acceptable for CAC to enter teams in open road races, providing all their team is not a member of another UKA club.
- These rules apply to other ARC registered clubs e.g. Great Langdale AC and Lonsdale Fell Runners.
- Some clubs are members of both UKA and ARC Allen Valley Striders and Morpeth Harriers for example.
