Notices from the Chairman

At last week's member's meeting we agreed to have a weekend away for runners and partners. I have just booked saturday 15th May at Keswick Youth Hostel but only 12 beds. So if you want a weekend of low key, fun running, swimming, shopping walking, biking etc. Get a cheque for £21.95 to me as soon as possible. The price includes dormitory accommodation (separate male/female) a great breakfast and full time access to the very smart recently refurbished Youth hostel. First come first served, cheques to me ASAP. This date has been chosen to avoid our championship races and all national races.

Important news from Jan 27th 2010 meeting

A few notices from the meeting:

Eaglesfield & Crummock Race Report 2010

Both these races were new courses and both were part of CFR’s Winter League. Saturday’s race replaced the original Eaglesfield 10, the fell road section of which was in such a poor state that I decided the course was unsuitable. Sunday’s was also a replacement course. After a beautiful sunny, frosty day on Saturday, Sunday in our part of the world started with a fair covering of snow. By race time the snow had dissipated but there was still evidence of ice and I decided avoid the potential problems of ice on the far side of Crummock where access is poor and run a two-lap race up to Rannerdale col. The fields for the two races were almost completely different. Only one runner competed in both – congratulations, Simon!

The snow thaw rain snow thaw etc cycle has left the course in a treacherous condition.  As there appears no let-up in the forecast until after Saturday, it has been decided to postpone the event until later in the season.
